A moth makes a cocoon, which is wrapped in a silk covering. Basically, they are nothing more than a protective casing that is around an insect. Usually an insect will enter into a Cocoon so that they will be protected from a harsh or unfriendly environment. The stay usually could last from few days to several months. During this stage in the butterfly or moth’s life, they do not eat or drink anything. They go through the process of transformation from an immature form to an adult form in two or more distinct stages which is also known as metamorphosis.
As a Christian teen, at times we too need to go through this metamorphosis phases. A period in life where we need to get into a cocoon which acts as a preventive layer around us and keep us safe from any harsh experiences. Reading the word of God and praying are the two phase metamorphosis that a young believer needs to go through to protect himself from the unfriendly traps of devil. As teens we just finished our childhood and we are beginning to enter adulthood, the metamorphic phase of teenage is the most challenging and crucial phase of our life. It is this phase of life where the devil tries his maximum to break us and take us away from the presence of our Lord. Our hormones and emotions are high, our thought processes have begun, we are making our own decisions and we are getting independent with lesser parental involvement and restrictions. Even the bible speaks about youth in following verse
Ecclesiastes 12:1 -3 “Don’t let the excitement of youth cause you to forget your Creator. Honor him in your youth before you grow old and say, ‘Life is not pleasant anymore.’ Remember him before the light of the sun, moon, and stars is dim to your old eyes, and rain clouds continually darken your sky. Remember him before your legs—the guards of your house—start to tremble; and before your shoulders—the strong men—stoop. Remember him before your teeth—your few remaining servants—stop grinding; and before your eyes—the women looking through the windows—see dimly.” (NLT)
1 Timothy 4:12 “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.” (NIV)
2 Timothy 2:22-23
22 Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 23 Don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels
Like we read the about the cocoon, while our minds are fresh we need to prevent it from getting corrupt with the unfriendly environment of the world. This is only possible by getting in our cocoon which is the presence of God. A cocoon that is built in prayer, fasting and reading the word of God. Once we have gone through this process, we are then eventually ready to phase the world and our mind is able to differentiate between good and evil. We are able to stand by Gods word and follow his teaching. We would be able to get a boldness to say NO to things of this world and focus in flying high.
God Bless Us.
