Jesus knows how much we can endure
But Jacob said to him, “My lord knows that the children are tender and that I must care for the ewes and cows that are nursing their young. If they are driven hard just one day, all the animals will die.
This story is about Jacob interacting with Esau when he meets. When they decide to walk together, Jacob remembers his cows, flocks and its little ones. He knows very well that if they animals and their children are lead even a day of hardship, they would die. Having known this he says in the above verse
This is not first time Jacob is having this journey
He knows very well this path and all its hardships that would be faced.
We can compare this with our life and our relationship with God
Ps 23:1 The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
Lord is our shepherd.
When Jesus came into this world he has endured all the trials and temptations that we are facing now.
He knows how wicked the world is and how the days are full of trials and temptations
Jacob’s well was there, and Jesus, tired as he was from the journey, sat down by the well. It was about noon.
Jesus was tired in the journey and he rested. Jesus has lived in this world and has endured, he has been victorious. Jesus who knows us so well, also knows our weaknesses and limitations.
He will not give us anything that we cannot endure. He will ensure that we do not lose our eternity.
Word of God says, I know my sheep.
But do we know him? Satan’s one important mission is deceive us, he wants us not to know that we are his sheep
He wants to make us wander in places we should not, in a pace that we should not run. we have everything in our fingertip, so fast is the worldly pace of growth through innovation and advance technology, but remember my dear ones, this fast pace may not be the pace that we can walk, and when we try to run that fast, we may fall into the puddle of sin.
As buddies of Jesus, we must remember Jesus is with us and is willing to walk with us in our pace. He is our friend, he knows our weaknesses and our limitations. He knows we are just humans of a body born in sin. He knows to handle us well.
Psalms 103:14 says, he has known us since the time we were formed, he remembers we are dust
The only thing we need to do is hear our shepherd. As sheep’s, we need to carefully listen to our Lor. His spirit leads us, guides us and directs us. We need to learn to listen to Holy Spirit. We need to abide by the pace it asks us to walk.
When he asks us to rest, we need to rest, we need to rest in the presence of the Lord
When he asks us to feed, we need to feed upon the word of God
When he asks us to drink, we need to quench our needs in prayer.
Let’s look upon Jesus.
Remember he is El Elohe, God of Israel, who led them mightily and valiantly from slavery to the promise land of Canaan. He can do it to us as well. He can lead us to our eternity.
All we need to listen to him
